Mooring in Tahoe - Advice Needed

I’m brining up a few paddle boards, so I plan to just use that to get to the mooring.

 

I agree you have to let the stern ride free so the bow can face the wind, regardless of which way it’s blowing.  I would still trust a bowline a heck of a lot more than a splice, but maybe that’s just me.
