Samson Wakeboard Racks - How to use bungies

I have a new (to me) 2007 Wakesetter with Samson racks. (Typhoon, I think.)

It has some long bungies to keep the boards on.

What is the proper way to use them? I've been wrapping them around, than then just kinda attaching the nylon loop at the end around one of the bars, but it feels really kludgy. I suspect there is a much simpler, better way to use them, but I can't figure it out. Any tips?  Thanks!

The bungee goes over the top of the board first, then back underneath the board, and hooks on the indent on the bottom of the rack.
