Is this boat really a Malibu?

Looks like a Malibu, BUT, something is fishy. A Bu that sold for 25K+ 20 years ago? Plus why the cry story about the shoulder? That might hav been the price of a response or echelon in the mid 90s but I doubt a tourney boat would have been that expensive in the mid 80's.

A new 88 Skier was $15k w/trailer.

It sure looks a lot like my '85 Ski Centurion Tru Trac except the intake on the bow is different. Same gelcoat graphics and dash layout. The vents across the back and the teak look very similar too.

Not sure why he thinks it's a Malibu. Back in the day Eliminator made ski boats but had more luck selling day-cruisers, pickleforks, Mod VP Twin-Tunnels,...and dropped the tourney style boats (they were just a passing craze, don't ya know Crazy.gif ).

Bidding is currently barely over $2200...with no reserve. Someone could get a pretty good deal.

The trailer and paint job look exactly like my 83 Eliminator Daytona. It was a pickle fork Hydro in shades of Blue instead of red/yellow. It was 23K in 83. The interior was much nicer in my boat and the engine had a lot more bling...tunnel ram, Bassett headers etc.

Eliminator was one of the top custom boats builders in the 80's so I can believe the 25K price. I don't think Malibu had anything to do with this boat except the origin of the hull may have been malibu, centurion or even Sanger. At that time custom boat builders in LA bought bare hulls from boat builders in the Merced area and then tricked them out with their own power and interiors.

I didn't think it was a Malibu because of the deck and interior, but the hull and gel looks very similar to the '80s Skier/Sunsetter. Eliminator buying a hull from Malibu makes sense.
