Made my own carpet saver about 1/2 the cost.

After receiving a lifetime ban from the carpet saver company, I figured I'd give it a whirl myself.  I found a company that sells carpet floor mats that use mildew resistant carpet with a rubber base.  The material is very easy to cut, should only need a flat razor blade, minimal effort.  If you have the old template, it's a lot easier.  I made some adjustments to make the fit a lot better.  It doesn't have spikes on the bottom but doesn't seem to slide around at all.  It's a little lighter than the typical carpet saver so peeling it back to get into the center drain is a tick easier.  We'll see how it holds up.  Cutting your own is really the only way to get a tight fit to the edges.

Looks great but what happens when it gets wet?  Does it breathe so that the carpet underneath will dry?

My old carpet saver had a rubber bottom as well.  if you don't water will get through and collect between the carpets.

We took it out tonight.  Held up great, looked good.  I think it looks better without the edging. You can get it right up to the edge.

I had a post on here where the the hole didn't line up with the table mount.  Grossly off.  I tried calling the manufacturer a couple times, they wouldn't call me back. There was no returns on the carpet.  I mentioned that I'll just let my card company figure it out and I'll order another with my measurements.  The lady got mad at me and said they will never build me another carpet.

Thanks for the heads up,might be the perfect ticket on my response rebuild instead of seadek and regular glue in carpet.

I don't see Sold Gray as a color option.  I see charcoal?? I may have to do this.

It looks like Bakersonline has the Carpet Saver for 569.  To get the Koffler Product to my house is now $406 after shipping. Do you think it is still superior to make my own carpet saver. My only problem is my boat does not have one to copy from so I will be  making the entire templet. 

What is your thoughts. By they way Btuff I really appreciate your malibu video's. I have learned a lot from you.
