Malibu response won't turn right.

Recommended Posts

Just replaced a steering cable In my 1998 Malibu response lx. Now it is having trouble turning right. I believe I need the black metal tube above the hds box. Old one was rusted to old cable. Running without it. Doesn't like making right turns. I have to lock the wheel to the left and. Back to right to make right turn. Any ideas on where I can get a new part? Or why else this could be happening.

Ok. Thanks. What does it do exactly? Keep pressure off cable so it won't bind?

It holds the cable housing so that the inner cable can do its job.  Try taking one end of your bicycle brake cable off the barrel adjuster and just leave the inner cable attached - then see how well your brakes work,

Please document the results of this experiment in video form.
