MLX vs A22 comparison

Has anyone familiar with the 2015+ A22 had the opportunity to ride in and behind an MLX? I'm curious about the wake/wave characteristics between the two. Also, knowing that the A22 is a larger boat did the MLX feel like it had a lot less room? Or was the size difference negligible? I'm considering an upgrade next year and am looking for opinions.

What percentages to you Wakeboard / Surf / Waterski? If wakeboard and surf is greater than 90% combined I'd go A22. If you waterski regularly or if you really like the Malibu finishing and dash, go MLX. They are really geared around use more than anything. The real difference is that the A22 can go world class in the wake and wave category (change my mind) and MLX cannot, but the MLX wake will lay down a lot flatter for ski/barefoot and the wake/wave will still not disappoint. The MLX is definitely a smaller boat than the A22. 8 people and gear will require some organization to be comfortable. You don't really run into that in the A22 until you are at 10+.

the narrow beam on the MLX was a no go for us. the 102" on the axis line up (cept the 20) makes it feel so much bigger

We looked at both boats and spent time on the water with each one and decided on the MLX for several reasons.  The wake/wave is pretty much the same on both boats.  Not sure on the wateski statement made above, as they both have the wake plus hull design.  I know the VTX is designed with waterskiing in mind.  Have not waterskied behind the MLX.  The MLX dryweight is about 300lbs more than the Axis, the Axis is a little wider and 10" longer.  To me the size difference was not that big of a deal, you will notice the Axis is wider.  The MLX has 4 hard ballast tanks plus PNP, whereas the Axis has 3 plus PNP.  If I remember correctly the Axis has 2 in the rear and one in the center, lacking the bow ballast tank.  Went with the MLX because we liked; the interior, the Malibu dash and controls, more standard features, nicer tower, larger bimini top, storage, seating, Indmar engine, quality of fit and finish versus the Axis line, handling and the overall look of the boat.  We have close to 90hrs on ours now and it has lived up to its/our expectations.  It's a great boat and does everything really well.  I don't think you could go wrong with either boat, they are both great options.

The Axis PNP also includes a bow bag under the seats.

I thought it was just the hookup and the customer had to purchase the bag separate?

Correct. I just wanted to clarify that the Axis, with a PNP bag in the bow, has ballast up front. It's hidden like a tank and actually has more capacity then a bow tank.
