Paddlewheel Perfect Pass Not Controlling Speed

Recommended Posts

So im havung an issue where my perfect pass works about 30% of the time. So when i crank my boat or turn my key, the perfect pass display will beep and flash continously like its constantly resetting itself. I either have to hit the on/off button or get a little speed and it will start displaying fine. However when i idle, it'll go back to its routine of continuously flashing again until i do one of the two things. While i can deal with that part of it, I cant deal with it not controlling speed. When it continuously flashes and i do my fixes, it seems the unit wont control speed. It does everything its supposed to, beeps within a feel mph but it doesnt catch and control, only keeps speeding up until i just say screw it and use throttle control. Has anybody ever come across this and know a solution???

does the servo go thru it's self tension routine at power on?

did the unit work correctly in the recent past?

this smells like a noisy power issue to me.

i'd run leads for power and ground straight to the battery and see what that tells you.

I didn't check the tension test out yesterday, I'll have to try that. And that's a pretty good point, I wonder if I switch batteries if it may start working? If so do I possibly just have a bad battery? I mean i never have any issues cranking, although sometimes the boat cranks weak but I just figured that was my starter going oit. Will have to check the batteries!

I think what @tvano is trtrying to say is you may have a bad ground in there somewhere. If the servo is working, probably a corroded ground giving you inconsistent power.

@jtl016:  The PP website has some good troubleshooting documents and videos to help you walk through your issues.  As noted above, good chance the problem is a poor ground, noisy voltage signal or low voltage (you hint at that in last post).  PP likes a good, clean voltage signal, and gets cranky when one is not present.
