Active Engine Fault

Recommended Posts

The first time I took my boat out this year it was running fine and then it hit a small patch of bad gas, sputtered, and died.  I restarted it and all is good but it registered an engine code and constantly flashes the fault and alarm on the dash to seek service.    Everything is perfect (temps and pressures).  It was caused by the bad gas and I need to reset the fault.  How can I reset my computer or remove the fault code??   The red band across the screen says Service Required.

Looks like the code is SPN:65592  FMI:7 (I think thats what is says; I am looking at a pic of the screen).

That is a misfire code for cylinder 2.  It can be caused by worn / loose spark plugs, plug wires, cap / rotor, cam angle (timing) out of specification, fuel pressure or contamination issues, engine compression issues, or drivetrain vibration.

I would check the spark plug and wire for the number two cylinder first.  On the monsoon 350, it is on the port side front of the motor, near the transom.  The plug wire should have a "2" tag on it.

If the fault code does not reoccur, it will clear after three engine heat cycles.  A heat cycle is when the motor goes from below 140 degrees, to above 140 degrees, then below 140 degrees again.  The code can also be cleared using the rinda diacom diagnostic software.

How do remove plug wires on 2012 L96. I have a misfire code on #2 and can’t get the wire off.  Twisting and turning but nada.
