G3.5 tower fold down

Recommended Posts

So easy to fold down right.  I can’t seem to get my tower down and stay.  Seems like the gas strut it to short or something.  The front tower bar is still above the windshield and tremendous force to hold it down.  Like you would need 50 lbs or more to hold it down.  What am I missing here.

thanks thanks

Yea, just one set.  I mean holly cow i gotta damn near gang on it to keep down.  And it certainly doesn’t go down as far as the yiu tube dealer videos show

Talk to your dealer about an adjustment since it should be an easy pull down.

My 3.5 is an easy 2 finger push below the windshield, and was that way before and after 2 pair of tower speakers. Once down, it stays down without anything holding it.

Sorry, I should have been more helpful rather than just throwing a joke.  I meant that you could add more speakers/weight to the tower and it would help to keep it down.

I know in the past that the struts could be changed out for more/less weight depending on your tower accessories.

I had Titan 2s on my tower and had a similar experience.  Addl. racks and Rev 10s fixed the problem.  Hope you get it fixed!

The tower struts seem to be super inconsistent. I had to be careful lowering mine even before I added tower speakers. It wanted to drop straight down and was a pain to put back up by myself.

Sounds like your tower might have the gas struts made for the loaded tower instead of a single set of tower speakers.

They install different gas shocks based on if you order tower speakers or not?

How have people replaced these?  I just got my order for the new struts, but they are in the compressed state and I am not sure how lining things up would work.  I am assuming someone on here has done this by themselves.
