Drain pump keeps blowing fuse

Finished surfing tonight in our 2010 23 LSV and hit the "dump" button as we went to watch sunset.  Noticed a few minutes later we were listed to left side pretty badly.  Rear left drain pump was not working so I still had stock tank full plus about 750 lbs in the bag on left rear.  Checked the fuse and it was blown. Same thing happened 2 summers ago.  So I  replaced fuse, hit the drain button and it started dumping again.  But I noticed  in a few minutes it had stopped pumping again.

Replaced fuse again - it pumps for about 20 - 30 seconds then blew again. Put a bigger fuse in it, it started pumping then it blew.  One last fuse replacement with same results. I noticed the fuse panel had a red light blinking on the back side of panel. Doesn't appear to be easily accessible so not sure what blinking light means.

Malibu manual is no help so asking if anyone has had same issue?  Looks like I will be manually pumping out water in the morning.

Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Every time my pumps blow a fuse it’s because they’re is a piece of sand or something in the pump cartridge that jams it. Once you get the water out, take the pump apart the and try some compressed air and lubricant to clean your pump cartridge. Spin it a couple times out of the housing and see if it’ll go longer than 20-30 seconds that way.

I had that problem last summer. Cleaned it as above. The issue continued. Had a spare pump cartridge on hand that I replaced it with and the issue resolved. Pump must have been bad for me.

So I had my first pump die over winter on me. Your right, the fuse would flip after 10-20 seconds of the pump failing to start. Did the same, replaced the cartridge and now keep a spare on the boat... always better a fill pump go bad than a drain one.

Thanks for the quick replies.  Our lake level is over full pool right now due to lost of rain and there is a bunch of debris in the lake. Jammed up my speedometer last weekend so it makes sense there could be debris in the pump.  I'll check it out after I get all the water pumped out.

Thanks.

Pulled the pump and the impeller seems to be moving easily.  No obvious debris keeping it from spinning freely.  Odd in that now it does nothing when the pump is cut on.  Previously it would run for a few seconds and then blow the fuse. Now it doesn't run at all - but no blown fuses either.  Thinking the pump is dead.

Is it the blue and white shurflo piranha pump?

If so the white cap on top pulls of and there is exposed electronics.  Seems dumb because all of mine have failed due to corrosion under the cap. It's just held on by friction and pulls off.

Pump was bad. Ordered new pump, wired it up, and we are back in business.  Probably should have ordered a couple more pumps as I'm sure the rest will all start failing now based on age.

Curious if anyone has had this issue, replaced the pump with a new one, same issue. Thinking of just pulling new wires as I think it’s a short in the wire? Anyone ever double up wires on the same fuse? Ie fill center and front on the same fuse, but would you pump it up to 10amps or leave it at 5?
