09 RLXI Hammerhead Harmonic Balancer Replacement

Recommended Posts

My balancer has separated on my 2009 RLXI hammerhead. Anyone know what the correct aftermarket replacement application would be (400 ci chevy? Year?). I'm not sure what year block/crank Inmar used and could not find much info on it.

Thanks,

Dave

I don't know what Indmar/GM did to build your 383, but you can build them either internal or external balance.  What does yours look like?

The one on the right is external:

Thanks Madman. It does not have any reliefs similar to one on left but aren't some of them balanced by drilling holes in the side of the balancer?

Also, mine has the degrees on the wheel itself vs the degrees on the tab that is bolted on the block.

The degrees on the wheel are pretty common.

So I learned, through doing the job, that mine has an externally balanced harmonic balancer. The balance weight is bolted - two bolts - on the inside of the balancer.

Hey Superdave, does your 05 have a 340 Monsoon by chance? I believe the balancer in my 06 340 is starting to shread, and just started searching for the correct part. Perhaps you came across the part # for the 05 or 06 340? TIA
