Surf gate damage?

just purchased a 2018 LXV this week.  had a boat for years made a rookie mistake and When we were towing the boat yesterday we back the boat into a pole which cause damage to the drivers side surf gate.  the surf gate is completely disconnected from the motor.  There is no apparent hull damage.  Damage just to the surf gate.  question we would still like to take the boat out tomorrow  we were considering   securing the surf gate so it is not flapping  would we be able to still use the boat to wake board and tube., and can we activate the passenger side surf gate (left gate) and still surf on the right.?

Can you disconnect the damaged surf gate so you do not end up loosing it or damaging it worse? Yes, you will still able to still use the other side to surf, no different than using a suck gate, nothing on opposite side needed for the gate to create the wave.
