To add bow weight or to not add bow weight?/

Wondering if I need to add some more bow weight?? What do you guys think?

Surfing behind a 07 vRide (SV23 hull). Current set up is full 750's in each rear locker, 500# midship tank full, 400# bag in the bow, homemade suck gate, and wedge 2 clicks up. Also, usually have 1 or 2 people sitting on port side of boat. With this set up, I can usually ride ropeless without too much difficulty. However, I feel like the wave isn't all that long and doesn't have much push to it. I am considering replacing the 400# bag in the bow with a 1000# triangle bag. (Would probably only fill the triangle bag 3/4 full). Would this make much of a difference? Is that too much weight for this boat? I'd be somewhat more concerned about dipping the nose on pick ups. Let me know what you guys think.

Also, running the 1235 prop. I'm 5'9" 190# on a Ronix Koal.

What speed do you surf at?  I think the 1000lbs up front would be too much weight in the nose for what you are running in the stern.

On my 23 LSV... don't have front factory ballast:

All Factory ballast full (250 in rear lockers 500 mid)

1100 sacs PNP into factory rear.

With a small crew I have 300 lb sacs under coffin and fill them

1100 lbs up front

Wedge all the way down and I surf at 12 mph...

Length will be longer with more bow weight and faster speed... Try increasing your speed in small increments to see how it changes.

Between 9 and 9.5 MPH

Is that GPS speed or paddle wheel?  That is really slow if actual speed.  10.5-11 is a very common speed for that hull

Paddle wheel. I checked it with some iPhone app. Not sure how accurate/precise either are. Any faster and I feel like the wave isn't tall enough.

Adding bow weight will reduce your height as well.  I think you would do better to speed up first.  9-9.5 is very slow.  We surfed that hull around 10.6-11.2.

Adding bow weight to my boat increased the length of the wave greatly. Bow weight and a suck gate was a game changer for me.

750Lbs rears

500lb Mid

600 Front

Suckgate, wedge, Wake Hull . 9.3 to 9.5MPH

Too slow.  I run 10.3 - 10.7 depending on water conditions.

That is too much weight in the front.  I run what amounts to about 900 in each rear locker, 300 under the port seat, 500 in the ski locker and 300 in the bow in hidden water ballast.  Another 100lbs of lead is in the nose and move the other lead around as needed.  Typically I keep 100lbs under the observer seat next to the batteries and move the rest around.

Wedge and a gate, boat has a bit of list with this setup but it works great.
