2011 LSV Head unit upgrade

I am looking at replacing the stock Rockford Fosgate head unit in my 2011 Malibu Wakesetter.   I am wanting to install the JL media master.  I was just curious if anyone has done this?  the issue i am afraid of is trying to hookup or completely bypass the existing "black box" for the Fosgate unit.  Any ideas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The black box and screen on the helm are one complete unit, so yes, you would be replacing the rockford rosgate black box, not hooking up to it, as its just the brain for the wired remote interface on the helm. So think of it as a complete head unit from an electrical and audio hookup standpoint.

Thanks for the help.  I guess when you think of it as one “unit” , it makes it much sense!  Just tip it all out!

For some reason i was thinking it would be tied into the amps , other electrical bells anc chimes etc, much like newer vehicles where you need adapters when adding to stock stereo.

In a way, it is tied to the amps. But your new head unit will connect to the amps in the exact same way.
