Battery Switch

I picked up a off/1/2/both battery switch, some no name cheap switch so there's no wiring diagram.  The 3 posts inside say Bat 1, Bat 2, & Feeder.  I assume Feeder is to trailer hot.  Then Bat 1 & 2 are self explanatory.  Then there are two small posts that said "field".  What are those?  If ground, how do you land a battery ground wire to it?  Or do I even need a ground?  Do I just take ground direct from trailer to battery & another ground battery to battery then, right?

You wrote trailer a couple times.  What woukd be the purpose of the switch on a trailer?

I don't know if it's something else or the CO detector but it drains the battery.  Figured I'd just throw a switch in there to shut it off when we're gone for the week.

If I remember correctly, negative terminals are jumped together, then one negative wire all the way to engine block. Batteries positives are isolated to the 1 and 2 spot on perkco switch.
