Trouble with 383 Hammerhead

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I own a Malibu Respons 2005/383 Hammerhead.

Last summer the boat was still running 50 mph. The only problem was in the lower rpm, then the engine was not running smooth. So I brought the boat to our new Malibu dealer (Belgium, Europ)to get it fixed.

They did a lot of changes, new ECM,Wiring harness, Sparkplugs & wiring, fuel pump, filters, distributor cap and rotor. At this moment the engine is running but it want go over 4400 Rpm. They had a lot off conversations with Indmar but until now no solution.

The engine have 390 hours and it was always running good before the trouble at low Rpm started.

Sorry about the English because it is not my native language .

Help !!

Just a thought,  New ECM,  SO by chance is the new ECM revlimiter set to that rpm? I'd have them check that first!

All the best!

@go2foot:  If the high speed (over 4400 RPM) problem happened right after the service at the dealer, look at something they changed as that problem.  Did the service fix the low speed problem?

The engine is running normal but it want go over 4400rpm

Does it bounce at 4400, like it's hitting a rev limiter, or does it feel like it just doesn't have enough power to go any further? Are you running the same prop?

We didn't change the prop. I will ask the dealer to try the engine in neutral , to see if it pas the 4400rpm
