Old gas

Problem with leaving tank low is it is more prone to get water in tank since condensation will form in an empty tank. That is why they recommend that you store over winter with full tank.

Old wives tale. We'll, sorta. It was a problem with metal gas tanks........Condensation from temperature changes. Now far less of a problem with plastic tanks. Combined with any number of gas treatment products out there, it's nearly non-existent.

Neglect the gas treatment and leave the boat in storage more than a year or two & all bets are off. I usually see more problems with the gas spoiling or varnishing than moisture.

Most of the problems i have seen with old gas have happened in carb'd engines and issues were with the carb and not the engine itself. I don't typically run into two year old gas in fuel injected items but Motorcycles, ATV's, pressure washers, lawn equipment..., the carbs can get gunked up if not used for 1-2 years. If that happens i clean the carb, drain the gas and then they're good to go.
