Fuel filter 99 Sunsetter

Recommended Posts

Ive looked around the forums for a little while now and cant seem to find a clear answer and the consistency seems to be shabby between the boats themselves. I have a 99 Sunsetter LX with the 325 hp fuel injected motor. Does it have two fuel filters on it, or just the high pressure one mounted up by the fuel rails? I am getting everything together to get it out of storage. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a '98 Sunsetter -  I have two filters - the one near the fuel rails, but then their an inline filter atop the fuel tank itself.  I had to remove the "shelf" to gain access.  I'd go take a pic of it - but my boat is all covered up for winter (with snow on it).

Should be two.  High pressure side has one inside of a black, factory canister before the rails (use oil filter wrench to undo the bottom and the filter element is down inside) and either a simple can unit or inline filter/water separator along fuel delivery from tank.

Mine has two, one in line and the high pressure can (silver). Both obvious if you track the fuel line. Although mine is a v-drive and a year older than yours.

I have a 99 Sunsetter LXI with the 325 and have two. One is by the rails as explained above and the other is above the fuel tank. To access this one you open the storage trunk at the back and inside you'll see the panel that is behind your back seat. This panel is held in with several screws. After removing this panel you'll see the fuel tank and just above it is the filter. Easy job and this is coming from a non-mechanic.
