Water in V Drive

I went to change the oil in my 2015 A22 V Drive and it was all milky.

I plan to fill and drain it until it’s all clear, and then run it to see if there was a one time leak, or if there is a continuous leak.

Any ideas how water could have got in there?

Usually it gets in through the little breather cap on the top of the V-Drive.

Hopefully.  Otherwise it is the output shaft seal (assuming you run with a bilge full of water) or the water jacket is cracked internally

If the water jacket was cracked, then the V-Drive would eventually fill up with water and spit out of the breather tube. If the level of the fluid is normal, that's an unlikely scenario.

Not really.  The V-drive is on the suction side of the raw water pump, not the pressure side.  So any minor crack would weep not firehose

You are not alone.  I had the same problem when I purchased my boat used. All milky and full to top of the dipstick and that was after paying dealer to check it out for warranty transfer. I was told by dealer that they would pump out fluid, refill with new, run a few hours and repeat. I elected to do it myself. After 3 times it is nice and normal. Dealer is 3 hours from the lake and 1.5 hours from home

I used a hand pump from auto zone, the long plastic attachment fits perfect to the bottom, I used plastic tubing to pump into old receptacle. My oil service pump would not pump it out. Too thick. I found the fluid at Grainger about 74 per gallon jug. The dealer has it branded Indmar about 18 gallons a quart.  Probably the most checked fluid on my boat now.
