Hello Noob - Breakaway Cable

Recommended Posts

So yes...I made a wonderful rookie mistake and yanked my breakaway cable out of my trailer! ;-) I’ve searched this forum and YouTube to try and match up my actuator and find a video on replacing the cable and ordering info for the correct cable. I have a 2015 LSV with a dual axle trailer which I think is a UFP actuator but the pics on their website don’t really match the configuration of my trailer. For instance, the breakaway cable routes through the side of the actuator assembly and not over the top and middle like I see with their videos. Any part number ordering help and/or video instruction on installation would be super appreciated...or even a technical manual. Thanks much in advance!

This site has lots of different parts and you may be able to find what you need online.  I have called them as well and they had good customer service.

So I just did this same thing as the OP and broke the breakaway cable. Got interrupted unhooking the boat and forgot to remove it. However, I hooked the boat back up to the car and pulled forward 5 feet or so with no issues and then backed up with not issues. Seems the breaks aren’t locked. I have an appointment on Monday with the dealer Who is 50 miles away to do some warranty work. Is there any issue towing it there if it is rolling ok now? Is there a chance that when I brake it will engage the trailer brakes and they won’t release? Thanks in advance.

You can look up under the tongue below the master cylinder and see if the e-brake away clip is engage on the brake plunger shaft. It will be under tension if so and easily disengaged by hand. If it isn't now it won't auto deploy on the way to the dealer.
