Heater Blower Motor Switch Overheating

Recommended Posts

Anything with electricty is my nemisis. Don't quite understand the stuff. I have a 2005 VLX and the heater blower motor was not working. Checked the Hi/Lo switch and found it partially melted. Pulled it and rebuilt it (bush repair kind of) and reinstalled it. Motor ran again but the wires into the switch got super hot. Am I looking at a seized blower motor or a bad ground wire? Where might I begin looking for where this is grounded? Any thoughts on finding a replacement motor if that's the fault. Thanks Crew!

Is there a circuit breaker on this installation?  Curious why it didn't pop.  Before you spend $150+ on a motor I'd be sure to confirm it is the problem.  COuld be a wiring issue.  Side note, I just removed my circuit breaker panel 2 days ago I found a 10 amp lead that was hooked to the wrong (20 amp) breaker...these things are hand build and it shows.
