Echelon swim deck cover?

I like the look of the newer swim decks. I thought about maybe getting some hdpe same thickness as my swim deck cutting it to the same size and then putting hydro turf or something simular on it.  Has this been done on the older ones?

I like the teak. Just not all the splashing in the slots.. also i thought it might look like a newer boat with a padded swim deck. I have refinished it and like the "new " looks when its freshly refinished

I'm just messing with you.  To each their own!

The plashing through the slots may prevent a wave from coming over the deck and putting too much strain on the mounts in the transom.  Just a thought.

I'll be curious to see what you do.  I am thinking of using some exterior grade plywood, bed lining the tar out of it and putting some of my left over chinese faux seadek on it.  Unfortunately my teak platform is in pretty rough shape otherwise I would just restore / refinish it.

Another solution would be to do a composite construction - use a closed cell foam core (Corecell, Divincell) and overlay with either carbon fiber or fiberglass.  The closed cell foam core will not absorb water, is much lighter than a plywood core and will result in a much lighter final product.  If you ski, you will want to keep the platform as light as possible, I made mine with carbon fiber and it ended up at 11 pounds with brackets compared to the 30 # teak version and is super stiff.  I put a Hydro Turf foam pad on top.
