Winterizing Removing Hoses...

Recommended Posts

(Trying to extend our TN season as much as possible)

About a month ago I removed the block plugs and unscrewed the garden hose... poured water as normal.

earlier this week I saw the frigid temps really dropping so I knew it was time to undo all the hoses.

Removed

V drive hose

Transmission cooler

J hose

small hose under J hose

all hoses from the impeller raw intake

small hoses going to the thermostat

very little water came out of these hoses except for the J hose had a lot... I guess this is due to me pulling the block plugs a month ago and the garden hose?

Side note from the water that did come out from the hoses it was a little slushy (yikes!)

Small water I had drained had froze in the bottom of the boat... and the drip from the drain port on the block had froze.. but it had occasionally moisture dripped for weeks.

freaked me out a bit... (boat is in a storage but some air can creep in)

would you worry about this? Did I miss anything hose wise...

When would you reconnect all the hoses? Super low temps next few days.

Only hose I have to remove is the J hose from the raw water pump to the trans cooler.  Everything else is pitched to drain by gravity.  One extra thing I do is force air through cooling system with a shop vac at the tranny cooler where I removed the raw water hose.  When I am confident all water is out, I put everything back together.  Next year it's just gas and go.
