Fuel Capacity of 2000 Sunsetter VLX - Fuel consumption

Was wondering what the size of the fuel tank in our 2000 Sunsetter VLX is? Have heard 40 galons and 35 gallons. Filled up the other day with 30 so was wondering how much we had left.

Also was trying to get an idea of what folks are burning per hour. With our mixed use (boarding/cruising/skiing/surfing) we seem to be averaging using about 5 gallons or so per hour. Just wondering what others are noticing.

Thanks!

My 2000 Sunsetter Lxi sucked down about 28 gallons this weekend. It is, of course. cursed with the fuel guage that shows it being empty after using about 10 gallons. Never really knowing how much gas is left in the tank, I keep adding a 6 gallon container every couple hours. I know there is a fix for this fuel guage thing posted here, but I am going to leave that up to the dealer this winter. What a pain in the a$$.

The sticker that is on my 2000 wakesetter VLX gas tank says it's a 35 gallon tank but I can never get more than 33 gallons in it when it's dead empty. It burns one tank per hard day of riding. These boats are not fuel effecient AT ALL. I carry 5 gallons on board all the time tucked away for the times I run out of gas.

The 2000 VLX I had with a 325 Monsoon used 3 g/h if we just boarded and tube and only cruised to smooth water that was within a few minutes of launching. This is what we almost exclusively do and if we were out for four hours, I could figure on putting in 12 gals. My '06 VLX with full ballast(1200#) and wedge down with a 340 Monsoon has been averaging 4 g/h.

That's been my #1 complaint.

Thanks for the help guys. Knowing we have 35 gallons makes me a little more nervous knowing we filled up at 30. That was our first tank with the boat. However, now I watch our engine hours and just estimate 5gph and that way I know we can make it home.

I think 5 gph is a good estimate. Thats what we usually get on our monsoon. If we ski more (32mph and up) we use a bit more. After about 5.5 hours of clock time I know I am getting close to needing more go juice.
