Problems with ETX Exhaust

Recommended Posts

I just found this on a message board over here and was Shocking.gif !

The 2 year old boat (MC) just had 60 hours in salty water until both ETX exhaust were leaking.

Is this a known problem?

Is that a freeze plug that it is leaking from? It looks like a spot that has been plug welded.

Someone said on another thread that their life would not be as long as cast iron manifolds because they are aluminum. If their life is that short, I'd go with cast iron on replacement. IIRC ETXs cost upwards of $1,500 for a set.

That's scary Chaabo - I thought the ETX manifolds boasted longer life because they are one piece (& aluminium). Mine are going to get a "Macs" flush every time from now on!

I too heard that the ETX would NOT last long in salt. I just blew a whole in my riser on my '00 Monsoon II, just 5 1/2 seasons, and I flush fairly regularly. I got almost 12 years out of a set on my old MC 190.
