Malibu contributions

I made this comment once in another topic, but I thought I'd say it again just in case Malibu happens to be reading this:

I realize that this site has a unique separation from Malibu - and I truly believe that is a good thing. The independence creates many opportunities for us to speak our minds and critique/compliment the brand as we see fit. I do NOT know about the internal operations of this site or the hurdles the moderators have to jump through - and I don't think it is any of my business. I appreciate everything the hosts/moderators do for our community.

With that said, I think it'd be nice for Malibu to chip in 12, 24, 36 pieces of 'swag' per year for this site to distribute. I think it would be a nice gesture for our community of brand-supporters AND a good way to gain & retain members. How much would 12 hats cost Malibu/Axis? Moderators here could run an 'all supporting members are eligible for a random drawing' - 'first 10 new members get a Malibu koozie' - 'any crew member active for x number of days/years gets their name thrown into a random drawing' - etc etc etc.

Not looking to create extra work, nor trying to make us beholden to the brand, but I feel like a little recognition/game/incentive would bolster community support.

Just my $.06

I used to think it's crazy Malibu that has so few items of swag (e.g. advertising) available on their website, but they have added more items of late.  Either way, you'd think these would be sold cheaply as possible, as it's marketing and encouraging brand loyalty.  For example, why would I buy a Malibu branded towel when I can get a thicker towel at Costco for 1/3 the price?  You're not selling a towel, you're getting your brand out there...
