Back in the 90s the Response and Echleon had open and closed bows. The LX was for open bow. I assume when Malibu expanded into the v drive market, they designated it as the VLX. The V for v-drive LX for open bow. The LSV was first a 22ft Luxury Sport V drive which started around 2000ish also known as the Escape. After the first year of this model they dropped the name Escape and kept LSV designation for the 23ft and larger boats. The VTX was Malibu's first v-drive to meet Salom and wake board tournament capability, again I assume the V is for v drive and T for tournament.
