Eagle Trailer Surge Brakes

This is probably a bit premature of a post, but does anyone have experience with the reverse lockout solenoid going bad? I have having intermittent issues when backing up this spring. Had no issues last year, or since I got the trailer. Trailer was new in spring 2014.

I am going to trace the wiring before buying a new solenoid, but figured I would ask up front.

Also, is there any maintenance that you guys do for the actuator itself?

Remember to check the wiring on your truck as well.  My reverse wire went out for some reason on the truck side and was causing similar problems.

Well it being a 2017 I sure hope that is good!

And I am 99% sure everything on the truck side is good because I just wired a 7 pin male plug into the trailer so I don't need to use an adapter. I checked the signal after the connections I made and those were all good. Just wondering if I pulled something loose or it just went loose on its on inside the frame.

you wired in a 7 pin?  What was there before?  The factory boatmate 7 pin setup is a 5-7 cable in the swing tongue.

in any event, get yourself a 12v source and jump your ground and rev wires on the trailer harness to see if the solenoid actuates.  And I wouldn't assume that your factory wiring hasn't blown a fuse on the truck.  Get a $10 led tester that plugs into the 7 pin on truck.

No, the eagle came with a flat five. If it already had a 7 way I wouldn't have wired one in. I'm 100% sure the new 7 way is sending the correct power on the correct signal, turns, brakes, reverse etc.

100% sure?  Tested it?  I was 100% sure on my last f150 until I found the 2 relays and fuses in a bag in the glove box that enabled the trailer brakes and backups;)

Yes. As my original post states I tested after the point of the connections I made to verifying everything. I used a multi meter. I'll test again for good measure. But as I'm learning more and more about this trailer I wouldn't be surprised the connections were piss poor inside and as I pulled the slack out I messed something up.

Plus the solenoid trips off of the reverse light signal. Nothing from the brake controller.
