Engine Swap

Hey all!

Just bought a 1999 Response and I have pulled the stock engine and have a 383 Stroker to replace the stock 350. The new engine is carbureted. Does anyone have experience with a swap like this? The 383 is 400 HP. Can I still use the stock fuel injection or do I need to delete the injection part of the computer system and run the carb.

First, welcome. New engine is ready to go, carb, distributor, all the accessories?

If yes, I think just go ahead run the carb, no computer. Old school. Throttle cable changes/adjustments are going to be needed.

@Madmaxxjim:  A carburetor can be considered 'dumb' and simply feeds fuel to the amount of air that is passing through it until it hits the max flow possible (basically what cfm listing for that particular carburetor).  It does not care what is behind or under pulling the air through.  Depending on your specific FI unit, the injectors will need to be sized properly and/or the ECU will require a calibration to match the air pump so the engine runs at the correct air fuel ratio.
