2016 to 2017 tower changes, change clearances?

Can someone please tell me the differences in the towers from 16 to 17.  I will garage my boat and I literally have 2" of clearance(from the spec of 90" the dealer gave me) on a 2017 22VLX.  I am now looking at holdovers and was told that there were some changes made to the tower.  Is the boat height with the tower folded still the same?

The major change to the G3 was the folding mechanism - but I don't know if it changed the height when folded. 

 

Just for background if you aren't familiar, the "base" tower is the G3.5 with the aforementioned new folding mechanism.  Otherwise, it looks pretty similar to the G3.2 which was used in 2016.  The upgraded tower is the G4, which is pricey, but comes standard with the clamping racks.   The G3.5 can accommodate clamping racks, but comes standard with bungee racks.

Is the 2016 G3.2 a pain to fold?

Hmm, I never have to fold mine and my clamp was overtightened at delivery and something the dealer is currently adjusting, so I can't really speak to it.  I think once properly adjusted it wouldn't be a big deal and was an improvement over the screw knobs on the original G3 tower.
