Push button start

Is there anyway to add a push button start to the regular axis ignition while retaining the acc setting? I don't leave my boat unattended and have forgotten my keys once or twice.

The non-ghetto kits are pretty expensive ... like $500 or so.  The ghetto ones require the key to be in an ignition anyway.

My thought is just leave the keys in the boat.  What's the basis for removing them?  Nobody's gonna start it and drive it away from the trailer, and if they hook up the trailer and tow it away, replacing the ignition would take a doofus about 20 minutes.  So just leave the keys in the ignition full time.

My keys never leave the ignition unless we are on the water and boat is docked.  I also make a spare that stays in the tow vehicle and the spare from Malibu stays with my paperwork.

I too only take out my boat keys if I'm walking away from the docked boat to grab dinner in the marina. Even then I usually just toss them under the seat. Always keep a spare in my truck with the hitch lock keys.

Im not totally sure I understand why you want a push button start, but if it's for security you could wire a hidden switch for the ignition wire under the dash. We used to do this in cars whose ignition had been busted by thiefs.

^^ Yep, a "controlled" hot wire job. I did that on my first car because I never locked my doors, so I didn't want to carry keys. Had a switch on the left side of the wheel and a button on the right. If there were people in my car I didn't want to know about my system I put the ignition back together correctly so I could still use the key. I have thought about doing that same thing to my boat.... too busy for now.

Reason being, the old school key looks dated. Plus I found out my uncles old tige key starts my boat and visa versa. So, really, there is no point of security with these old style keys.

Mosy importantly, it's just something to change as a hobby. No real legitimant reason.

If if there were a simple swap of a switch, I would do it right now. But seeing there's more involved into doing the swap, I probably won't be doing this.

I just purchased a 2012 23 LSV. It came with four keys. One for the glove box, one for the ignition, and one for the engine compartments. Any idea what the fourth key is for?

The other engine compartment?  Pretty sure my 2012 came with 1 key per keyhole.

I only have the original key so when I went to my dealer to ask for a key made they told me they were no I longer available and that I'd have to replace the ignition.

I grew up working at my dad's hardware store and making keys back then was somewhat of a specialty. I went to Ace and spent 15 mins looking at the blanks until I found one that would work. $3.00 later I had 4 spares made.

one lives on every keychain of my tow vehicle, one lives hidden on the boat, and one I pull and put inside when it's on the hoist.
