Heater y fitting question

I have a new to me 05 vlx.  I was tracing hoses and saw this boat haso the year fitting, but it is on the output side of the raw water pump.   It is currently on the starboard side of the engine compartment.  Shouldn't it be on the intake side of the raw water pump.

It seems it is currently just pressurizing both sides of the heater core.

Yeah, it should be between the raw water intake grate and the raw water pump. But I do think this was an option for sometime with Malibu and that is where they installed it. It works, but not quite as well. Wouldn't be too bad to switch it back.

OK....thanks for the confirmation.  This boat is pretty OEM.  Almost everything I have found is stock, that is why this surprised me and it make sense if the install of the Y fitting after the raw water pump was stock.....still makes no sense.

I plan to move it.  Thanks.

My other project is the fix the shower.  I am not certain if the pump is bad or the relay.  I have voltage, but nothing happening.  I plan to put a gate valve on the engine's drain plug outlet also.
