With the last 2 boats missing within a month from each other half way across the globe.  Does anyone use trackR gps? Think we could get a group buy?

The only problem with this type of system is that it has to be in range with someone who has Bluetooth. Which can be fine in a big city but say if it goes into a shop or somewhere else that particular system won't work.

I posted a link to one a while back that used cell towers and required an annual fee, I feel like this type would be worth the money.

Edit: here's the tracking system

This is what insurance is for.  We have a major auto theft issue here.  Cars/trucks/etc are across the Mexican border frequently before owner even knows it's missing.   Once it crosses the border even if you have GPS coordinate there is no way to recover.  Other than getting it yourself, which is a whole different ordeal. Your better off filing a claim and calling it a day.

I've used a Trackimo (trackimo.com, available at Amazon, Frys, etc.) for my drones, kids, luggage, and have one in my boat. It's GSM v3 & GPS enabled and works internationally. It also powers on when it gets power if the battery goes dead. Geofences, etc. are all included; the messages (SMS are not really necessary, and only ~10 are included in the plan) it sends unlimited messages via the app.

I used it to track my luggage on a trip to Barcelona last year and it worked well; I know there are areas I use my boat that don't have cell service, but unless someone steal my boat and parts it out in the woods I should be able to figure out where it is.
