New floor ideas.

My last boat, 2004 LSV, had beat down carpet. So I pulled it and laid down Hydro-Turf as an alternative. While in general it held up ok and looked awesome the UV took its toll. Hydro-Turf said they have since fixed the problem but I'm stuck thinking about how I kind of miss the carpet at certain times.

So im thinking. Maybe next winter I'll rip all the bunks out of the new 2007 LSV and rip up the old carpet. And instead of putting down Hudro-Turf or Seadeck I will spend some extra time making the floor flat and paint in some sort of bed liner type material. It doesn't get too hot and will be light in color with a bit of sand in it to add some grip. Then I can buy a Carpet Saver have a shop install some snaps and I'll add the other half to the floor.

Carpet is nice in the winter. It helps keep the dawgs warmer. But it sure was easy to clean my old deck boat with the removable

Just thinking aloud.

I think my carpet has a few more years left but eventually I want to re carpet the seat bases but put deckadence on the floor.  I'm undecided about the compartment floors.  They don't need carpet, it just holds moisture but it's probabaly not worth spending deckadence money on them.  I'm ok having them unfinished but maybe I should put hydroturf or something in so the boat skis don't scratch up the fiberglass.

I'm sold on Tuff Coat products.  My plan is to put the UT-100SR (Smooth Rubber) on the floor and then add a Deckadence overlay.

Would you put the tuff coat on the seat bases or just the floor?  I like the idea of tuff coat on the compartment floors. I'm not sure what the tuff coat would look like on the seat bases but getting rid of all the carpet in the boat would be great.

Several of the I/O manufacturers are using a bamboo-like snap out carpet. Looks great but I'm not sure it's any good for traction.

As for the hydroturf, I think some colors do better in the sun than others, ie; don't ever use anything with red, yellow, green or blue in it. They fade the fastest.

I'm fairly certain my seat bases are starboard covered in carpet.  My plan is to remove the bases and then remove the entire floor and under-seat carpet and observer's compartment area, but still contemplating if I'll leave the carpet in the lockers.  Tuff Coat will go on the floor only (and observer's compartment walls) and then reassemble. I removed carpet in the bow "pockets" and used vinyl.  I'm tempted to do the same in the lounge area and on the area at the helm but my main motivation is to get rid of carpet on the floor only.
