sunsetter lxi not starting

looking for pointers my 2000 sunsetter lxi has over past two seasons has when turning ignition keys sets  gauges etc but nothing else no clicking heavy to start etc this happens periodically but more frequently recently if you key the ignition switch say 10 times boat starts .when in usa last november i picked up new malibu ignition switch new kill switch both fitted start of this season but still periodic problem have cleaned many terminals with electronic switch cleaner anyone any suggestions !!!

the no-start troubleshooting list may be a good start.

sure sounds like kill switch to me.  i'd start by physically connecting the kill switch wires and see if the problem goes away.

not sure how the neutral safety switch affects gauges.  you might play with the gear shift lever to see how it influences your problem.

another no cost option is to swap out the starter relay.  

  • there are three relays above the ecm which is above the transmission bell housing.
  • they control the starter, ignition and fuel pump.  the relays are all alike.  
  • the starter relay will have some yellow wires running to it.  swap it out with another relay and see if your problems move with the relay.

Monsoon Engine?  Fuel Injected?

Problem might be with your Cannon Plug.

Thanks guys yes fuel injected monsoon 325 sorry forgot to mention that will take a good look once boat is home for winter again thanks
