Spark Plugs and Wire Replacement Schedule

Recommended Posts

Question:  How often do you change your spark plugs and wires?

I have a 2007 383 HH carb motor with 137 hours.  I replaced the plugs three years ago at 96 hours but not the wires.

This past summer when the boat sat for any length of time, it seemed like it was missing for the first 1/2 mile before it would run normally.  I replaced the distributor cap and rotor and changed the fuel filter thinking that was the problem, but same thing.

I am thinking I might have a bad spark plug wire.

Any ideas?

Wires, cap and rotor every 4 years and plugs every 2 for me.

I replaced cap, plus and wires at 200 hours on a 2012 chasing a misfire.  The cap and rotor especially needed replacement at that interval.
