335 Monsoon engine drain plugs

Recommended Posts

I have a 2003 Malibu Sunsetter with a Monsoon 335 engine.  Could someone tell me how many engine drain plugs there are and where they are located.

Thanks

You should have two block drain plugs.  One on the port and one on the starboard side.  Port side is just a brass plug and Starboard is a knock sensor with brass plug.  If I remember correctly, the knock sensor plug required a 3/4 deep well socket to remove after you pull the wiring plug off.

Should be two, one on each side, about middle of the block down low.  Mine are brass and 9/16th inch.  Recommend an eight-sided ratchet bit (I've buggered the edges up using sixteen-toothed).

Since you have the Monsoon (I have the LCR), one of yours will be wired for knock sensor.  Exact same location, but you will need a different ratchet bit to remove it.
