97 Malibu Vlx bad hesitation at 3500 rpm with video

Recommended Posts

Can't someone help Rudy out?   He's gonna buy a master craft if his issues aren't resolved, lol.  I'm just not a indmar mechanic, and google is exhausted so...... Anyone an indmar specialist with an idea?

the ecm will limit rpm if the engine is not warmed up (limp mode).

a bad thermostat temp. sending unit may cause this type of problem.  i see you have checked some of the temperatures thermostat but that doesn't tell the complete story.

not sure the vintage mills do but injected set-ups have two thermostats (one for ecm and another for the dash gauge).

full disclosure: i know a lot; just can't remember it...does your (naturally aspirated?) rig even have an ecm?

i'd chase the temperature reporting circuit for a bit.

I replaced the ecm temp sensor and gauge Sensor. It is fuel injected. When I run a 140 thermostat it dash reads 160. I put a 160 thermostat dash reads 180. Protection mode kicks in at 190. I feel that I'm getting a incorrect reading. When I run the boat on the water with hand held temp reader. Therm housing and sensor read 160. That's with the 160 thermostat. The ecm temp sensor in side of the block reads 160 also.

If I bounce off that hesitation 4 or 5 time the high temp light will come on.

Sounds like you could really use someone with diacom. Where are you located Rudy?

I just dropped the boat off with a boat tech with diacom. ?

Good luck. I have a 99 that thankfully I haven't really had any problems with besides a melted rotor after surfing last year. Still not sure how it happened I've never seen one before
