04 Response LXi Speedo not working

Hi - I have a paddle type speedo with a "speedo" switch on the dash.  The gauge suddenly stopped working.  We tried the switch with no apparent result (speedo still does not work).  Paddle wheel spins freely, all paddles are intact and PP gauge responds when paddle wheel spins.  Any ideas, anyone?  Thanks

PP runs off the paddlewheel, doesn't the speedo on the dash run off the pitot? (I'm trying to remember if there are pitots on my inlaws 04 LXI)

This switch you are talking about is that the one that switches you between pitot 1&2 or something else?

The switch (at least on an '05 LXi) is to adjust the speedo up or down.  Useful when confirming actual speed with GPS.  We thought the speedo was broken on my buddies boat, but someone had just adjusted it all the way down.  Matched it up with the digital PP readout, and we were good to go.

That doesn't fix his problem, that would change the Perfect Pass speed from paddlewheel to GPS but doesn't impact the speedometer if he has pitot(s)

I don't have PP, but did switch from pitot tubes to GPS speedo with a Nautilogic product.  It works great and eliminates the threat of water creeping into the mdc.  I would think that the Nautilogic product would replace the paddlewheel for both the speedo and PP.

Hi - thanks for all the comments!  My speedo is paddle wheel only - no pitot tubes.  It has integrated PP (on a third/separate gauge from the speedo & cluster gauges).  My local marine repair guy thinks the problem is the speedo gauge itself - a tad expensive without really knowing and I don't think he's sure because he did not seem to know the function of the speedo switch on the dash.  If the problem has to do with the switch, as bowbmps said (maybe someone hit it too many times), we need to look into that, and will.  Thanks again!
