Does anyone know part# or where to get trans cooler ls3

Recommended Posts

Hey guys-As title states I think I may be in need of transmission oil cooler for my 2010 ls3.   I noticed a odd tapping in V-Drive last week so I immediately changed fluid in both tranny and v-drive.   Tapping stopped but I noticed v-drive was a tad milky and tranny was perfect.  After a night of surfing I decided to check again and V-Drive is milky again and tapping is back.   I assume from others posts that cooler is first place to look.  Bakes has a 5" and 9" but neither look like mine.  Any help would be appreciated!

Your engine has a combination engine oil/transmission oil cooler. Generally a cooler leak will leak trans oil into the cooling water because the pressure of the trans oil is higher than the pressure of the cooling water. The P/N of the cooler for your engine is 865005. If you give that number to bakes or any Indmar/Malibu dealer they can order one for you. You can take it off and check for leaks by putting a plug in one of the oil hose fittings and applying air pressure (50-60 psi) to the other one and dunking it in a water bucket and watching for air bubbles.

Larry-Thanks for reply!  So are you saying that water in V-Drive is most likely not the cooler?  If cooler was leaking I would see trans fluid in exhaust output?  Once again thanks for reply!
