Response won't start unless I pull the safety lanyard???!!!

Recommended Posts

Strangest thing happened this summer...put the boat in for the season.  Started fine at the launch.  Started fine the next day.  Turned it off in the middle of the lake.  Wouldn't start?!  Cranked perfectly but no turn over.  Somehow someone in the marina figured out that if you crank the engine and pull the safety lanyard out and replace it while still cranking it would start.   We replaced the lanyard and the actual switch.  Still nothing.

Every time it worked though.  Driving me crazy.  Does anyone have any idea what's going on???  2 marinas couldn't figure out the source of the problem.

Thanks so much as always!!!

i think you have an intermittent safety switch.

if it were mine i'd connect the wires together that are on the back of that switch.

i'm guessing the boat will start and run fine.

then replace the switch (along with the clip) with new.
