Who all has done it and how did you do it?  I though I could remove the cage around the engine but I cant figure out how to remove it.

There's holes in the stringers where you can access the through bolts. Four holes in total. One at each leg.

I'm thinking he is asking how to remove the xti dog house. Any way you can feel up under the floor to find lag bolts into the engine box walls?

also, we are going to need to hear the whole story and see some pictures.

Yeah that's what I meant. I had to do it with my last boat to replace the carpet. Hopefully he has small hands. The holes are about 4 inches in diameter.

So I see where the engine mount bolts are.  Are there more bolts in there for the dog house?

So when you turn those doghouse frame bolts, they just spin like there is a nut on them?  And there is no access hole near them?

Yeah they just spin.  There is the motor mount access hole but I dont see how it would be possible to reach the dog house bolts there.

I'd expect there to be an access hole just to the left of your alternator where that big bundle of hoses is.

Try putting a flat screwdriver under the head and washer and prying up as you turn the bolt out.  Sometimes enough resistance on the backside will hold the nut from spinning.  If you can at least get them out then you can find out how it goes back in without the engine in the way.

And then he'll be listening to the nuts bouncing around in the stringers for the rest of his life ;)

Nah, he'll see how to get them after he gets the engine out.
