strut support... mount it with marine silicone or 3m4200 or ???

Same boat from a few threads back...  We going to reinstall new prop shaft as well as new coupler.  the question, when reinstalling the strut support I assume some sealant has got to go on the bottom to help level strut support and to seal out water.  I have read of people using marine silicone or 3m4200 or something else ?  what is best or most often used?  thanks. -jay

Malibu used silicone based sealant on ALL of my below water line running gear. The 3M Marine silicone should work fine in that application, used abundantly of course.

4200 or similar marine below waterline non-permanent sealer adhesive. Id even use a bead around the bolt holes in the bilge,
