So I didn't really get out on the boat this year, well, at all. I pull her out this weekend just to give it a check over and tuck her back away. Any way, I pulled my son's wake board out. Wow, don't remember it being this small. It's a 124, his first board, cheapie OBrien. Didn't want to get him anything if I didn't know he would like the sport. Anyway, he is liking it so a decent board is needed.

the particulars, he just turned 12, he's 5-8 about 145#, pretty athletic but he's tall and hasn't caught up to himself yet, on the board he isn't overly aggressive, but jumps pretty good, was really trying to go wake to wake last year, maybe the board was holding him back, idk. but I never expect to see him try inverts, but who knows. What would you guys recommend for a board and size for said boy?

I would say Hyperlite, 134... Should fit like a glove. Franchise is a good board. Check out evo.com. I have been able to find last years graphics on a brand new board and save a lot of $

They have a Franchise 134 for 232???

Thanks.  Kind of liking the Hyperlite Baseline or Liquid Force Trip. Any thoughts on those? Both seem to be a good beg/int board to build some more confidence and are forgiving. I don't need him getting hurt behind the boat, too much other stuff going on.

While I have no experience with the boards you have listed (I'm a ronix guy), both look on paper to be good for the intended use. At that age and skill level I would be continue to focus on the continuous rocker boards as they are much more predictable than the 3-stage and hybrid rockers.

Evo is my go-to site for gear but when I got my current board and boots brand new and in the wrapping in eBay. Worth taking a look as you can get previous years' models which are mostly just a change in graphics. If you are buying over the winter both of those sites will give you a lot of discounted options.

You should look at the Hyperlite State 2.0. It is designed for your intended use. I put my GF's 13 year old boy in one this summer and he loves it and has progressed well.
