2313, 2315, or 2773?

Hi All,

I'm looking to change my prop up and have a few questions. I am currently running the 1235 on my 2012 MXZ w/ L96. Currently I surf with Suck Gate, All MLS Full, 750 PnP's, 550lbs Bow, Wedge All the Way Down. I surf goofy and run a slight list with the Suck Gate as I find it makes for a much nicer wave. I get to surf speeds with some (not much) throttle left to play with. If I empty a bit out of the PnP's the boat will plane. So realistically I'm not "underpropped" compared to many setups. Before the Suck Gate I was running listed and the 1235 did great. Now with the additional weight it still works okay, but I wouldn't mind changing to a prop that works the engine a little less hard. Plus it would be nice to know I can add extra weight in the form of ballast or more crew if needed. I'd also like to enjoy the benefits of a 15" prop. I've done a lot of reading and it seems like I've narrowed my search down to the ACME 2315, 2313, or 2773. I was originally debating between the 2313 and 2315, but after reading more into the 2773 it now has my attention as well. I like the top speed of the 1235 as we do cruise and our lake is very long. We rarely (if ever) cruise over 30MPH but having the lower RPM's at cruising speeds is nice as it saves on fuel and doesn't make the engine scream. I know that the 2315 will do everything I need it to do if I am willing to sacrifice my top end. So my questions are more to do with the 2313 and the 2773. Will they be a significant improvement over the 1235? Or am I better to just make the jump to the 2315 or else stay with the 1235? For anybody who has gone from the 1235 to the 2313 or the 2773...... did you notice a significant difference when surfing heavily weighted? Just to re-iterate, I am currently more than happy with the boat in every other aspect, I'm just trying to take some of the strain off the engine when surfing heavy. I'm open to any other prop suggestions as well.

Thanks in Advance

What's your altitude? 2773 on my 15 lsv with the 450 cruises at 25-26 mph at 3500 rpm. surfs with around 11.6 at 3-3100 rpm with around 4000lbs ballast and people. Top speed at redline is a tad over 40 mph. We are at 3500ft. I ran a 2315 on my 14 lsv with the 450, similar setup, slightly less water in the lockers. Surf rpm was around 3500rpm, top speed was around 38 mph. That boat probably burned close to 30 percent more fuel in a afternoon of surfing. Hope some of this helps.

At the lake I'm about 2200'. In the off chance we bring the boat home and use it around here (almost never happens) we're around 3500'. So you actually burned less fuel with the 2773 than the 2315? Seems like most burn less fuel surfing heavy with the 2315 vs. the 1235 even though the 1235 is a higher pitch. But that makes sense as you're working the boat harder surfing with the 1235 and you get more slipping. So if you're finding the 2773 is even better yet than that would make me quite happy. Obviously the 450 is a noticeable difference in power over the 410, but did you happen to notice if the 2773 lugged the boat harder than the 2315? Was there a change in transmission ratios from 14' to 15'? Thanks for your help.

No change in tranny ratios 15 has a indmar vs the mp in the 14. it seems to have more power than the mp engine. I ran a 1235 on the 14 lsv before the 2315. The 2315 on that boat was way more usable. The only thing that I liked about the 1235 was the 42 mph top speed. It worked fine for wakeboarding and light surfing. Would be nice if you could demo.

A demo would be perfect. Nobody in this neck of the woods wants to demo props and they all want way too much. I'm still cheaper to buy from WM with the 30% exchange and shipping. Anybody want to trade a 2773 or 2315 for a 1235 (or I have a 1939 as well)?

Trying to follow along here but what are the specs of the 2773?  And what's it supposed to do better than a 2313?  I usually recommend the 2313 as it was a huge step up from a 1235 and I don't feel like I'm wasting a ton of fuel like I would with a 2315 while cruising.  The 2313 pushes my 247 with 3k over stock ballast/wedge no problem while still staying ~3k rpm.  Where does the 2773 fit in here as far as pushing heavy ballast?:  There's also a 2419 or something right?

My understanding is that the 2773 and the 2313 are pretty similar performance wise. The difference being that the 2773 is 13" Pitch with .105 Cup and the 2313 is a 12" Pitch with a .150 cup. From what I've researched it seems like the hole shot and top end are about the same with both props. The 2419 is more aggressive than the 2315 with further loss in top end. It's the most aggressive the 15x12's. It would be overkill for me unless I end up adding a ton more weight. Good to know that you noticed a big difference in the 2313 over the 1235. That has been a big question of mine. I'm running approx. 3500lbs total ballast plus crew. What engine were you running on your 247?

I demo d a 2419 due to recommendations here. I was uncomfortable with the higher rpms that I ran constantly all of the weekend that I demo d it. I called Acme and after a long conversation with a really knowledgeable guy there I have decided to go to the 2773. I have the monsoon 350. I usually run with 2 to 6 average size adults and 800 lb bow. 800 in each locker as well as full factory ballast. I also have about 400 lbs of added audio and batteries in the boat. The 1235 just wasn't quite doing it for me. My 2773 is coming in next week and I hope to be running it the next weekend. I'll try and make mental notes of what I see with it and provide you some feedback here. I have a 15 22VLX.

I would be interested to hear how it goes surfnut.  My hunch would be that the 2773 is almost identical to the 1235, maybe 50-100rpm higher with the 2773 at surf and wake speeds.

if you are cavitating because you are pushing more weight than the prop can handle, a 15 prop can drop rpms even if it's a lower pitch because it's "hooked up" not slipping.

I've got a 247 with a l96 and a 1235. What prop should I use? I have 3000 over stock and usually ride with wedge in the center

2315 or 2419.

Depending on your altitude, I hope the 2773 isn't too steep of pitch for the 350. The 2315 might have been a safer bet.

I'm curious to see how you like the 2773 once you run it. Let us know your findings. Being that you're going from the 1235 it will be a good comparison for me. Im really on the fence about the 2773. I have no worries about the 2315 being the best prop for surfing, just not sure about the long runs down the lake. This is really one of those situations when the LS3 or LSA would've been worth the extra money.

2773 worked well for me this year, 3000 rpm 21-22 mph, 3500 26-27, 4000 31-32, wo 5300 at 40. Surf all stock ballast, 2x550 in back, 6 adults 3100-3200 rpm at 10.6-10.8 w 3 clicks, hit the wall a couple times but still would pull surf speed just had to be wo. Buddy has a 948 on his mxz 409 planning to swap them to see if any diff on my 15vlx 350 monsoon.

2315 is fine for long runs. You just adjust your cruising speed to mid / high 20s.

I feel the 2315 would work fine for me. What kind of RPM's are you 2315 folk seeing at 25MPH cruising (not weighted).

I have the 2419 on my 14 mxz with the 409. I like it more than I thought I would. Works well for surfing (stock plus 550 pip) and planes fast for wakeboarding. Cruising at 30ish is right under 4K rpm (iirc).

I'm pretty sure I'm over 4000RPM at 30MPH with the 1235. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my prop. There's no way a 1235 should be spinning anywhere near the same as a 2419 unloaded at 30MPH. Unless I'm getting that much slip which I can't see. This weekend I couldn't get over 38MPH with 4 adults and 2 young kids in the boat. That's with the Paddle Wheel but I have mine pretty dialed in. I should expect to be seeing 41-42MPH top end with a 1235 no?

I've found that most of the time, non-ballasted inboards, at cruising mph end up with ~11% slip.  Plugging these numbers in for different pitch props, at both 3500 and 4000rpm, with 11% slip, with 1.5 gear ratio, yields the following mph:

Pitch 3500   4000

10    19.7    22.5
11    21.6    24.7
12    23.6    27.0
13    25.6    29.2
14    27.5    31.5
15    29.5    33.7
16    31.5    36.0
17    33.4    38.2
18    35.4    40.5
19    37.4    42.7
20    39.3    44.9

Of courses cup and diameter will have an effect on these values.
