Ballast and Wedge setup

Hi everyone,

I finally purchased a 08 Malibu 23 VLX that I just launched last weekend. I boarded behind it a bit but wanted to know if I should have the wedge down every time I board? Also. there is auto ballast on the boat and should I have the tanks filled up each time? All tanks are working properly just don't know much about these boats.

That would depend on what you want for a wake... more ballast... bigger wake... use wedge, shapes wake (that is my opinion of what wedge is actually doing) If it is a automated wedge, the more clicks you come up with it, the more lip and ramp you get. I normally ride with factory ballast full, wedge all the way down, and 700 lbs in each rear locker.

Congrats on the boat, not sure if they have a 23 vlx or you meant lsv. Doesn't really matter. Welcome to the addiction that never ends, boating plus this forum which helps with so much.. As far as filling ballast and having wedge down its a preference of what your attempting. I board empty to ride switch and practice board slides and 180's. And fill full ballast and wedge down when I want some great pop for grabs/flips or sometimes simply big air.. If you really get into jumping and trying new tricks, adding a few fat sacs defintely helps with shaping/hardening and increasing wake size.. Have fun.. And if you leave the wedge down at all times it will just burn gas if your not using it, it creates allot of down force by pulling the rear end of the boat deeper into the water.. It's quick adjusting so use it as much as you want, even switching for different riders
