Proper Ski Length

We currently try to determine the right ski length for my wife. As I know that on this site there is very deep knowledge, I'm sure I will get some good advice from the TMC members.

My wife is 6' 1" tall, has a weight of 143 lbs and currently is on a HO Vengeance 65''.

She is used to free ski @ 32 mph and likes the performance of the Vengeance very much.

Last week we tried to enter the course (our first time). My wife had to start with 30 mph.

Her big problem was that she was not able to get her ski to turn properly (and quick enough) at that slow speed.

Going faster did not really solve the problem because she wasn't able to get one single buoy as a first timer in the course.

The members of the ski club where we skied said that her ski was way to small/short for her size.

We looked up several seizing charts but there was only speed vs weight and the height of the rider seems to be not an important factor. Dontknow.gif

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Don't forget fin adjustment has just as much importance as the length. You would be suprised what the slightest movement would do. Before you do any adjustments make sure you measure everything so if you have to put it back you know where you started.

I think we need pictures of the wife before we can make a proper call... :) j/k

I'd agree on the 67. Longer is better for carrying speed out to the ball and not sinking/stalling in the turns. I'm finding the same thing as GT regarding the longer ski. It's faster out of the turns and glides out wide a lot nicer than the shorter skis. Give it a shot!
