Tower inserts for mounting brackets

BarefootCowboy

Recommended Posts

We have a 2013 TXi with the foldable tower.

The inserts that the mounting brackets screw into are coming loose and not allowing the mounting brackets to stay tight against the tower frame.

Any one else had any similar experiences, or have any suggestions?

I cannot find the name.  It is the tower shown in this pic.

The issue is the inserts where the Bimini connects to the tower frame.   There are inserts inserted in to the holes, and threaded screws go into that.

Hard to tell if the intention is for  the inserts to expand when the screws are put in, or if they were supposed to be secure without the screw being inserted.

Above my pay grade, I dont recall Bu offering a tube tower in 2013. However, it sounds like someone tried some nut inserts for a stripped hole or possibly a nutsert and they gave failed. Might just need to drill them out and install new ones.

I'd try to use appropriately sized well nuts.  They are a "blind" fastener which means you don't need access from the inside and they are usually bass.  Using these with stainless screws would be cheap, easy and fast.
