Impeller Gasket?

Recommended Posts

Hey Fellas, i have a 05 VLX with a monsoon 340 my buddy and I opened up the impeller housing to check on our impeller and when we removed the cover it seemed that the last person that changed the impeller used a rubber sealant gasket? Is that what is normally supposed to be used? If not do you guys know if i can find the correct gasket at a West Marine store or would i have to call the dealer to see if they have one in stock? I swear these things were supposed to have a paper gasket? Any help would be appreciated

THANKS!

Ugh!  That really sucks.  Yes...there is a gasket for the impeller housing, and as I recall it costs like $1.50....probably a lot less than a tube of rubber sealant.

Hopefully they were not trying to cover up a problem.

You should completely clean that crap off the housing and get a proper gasket for it.
