gain access to rudder

Recommended Posts

I have a 2003 sun setter in which I am going to replace the steering cable.  I have minimal experience working on boats but hope after reading the article by D-Goose that I will be able to do this.  How do I gain access to the rudder on this boat so that I may loosen the cable attachment?  Unfortunately my owners manual is not currently accessible (left at the lake).

I thought the article mentioned removing the partitions...anyway, I removed the partition on the starboard side and everything else in there (ballast sac.)  Not a lot of fun, but if you have the correct open-end wrench and socket you can do it one-handed.  If you have a friend then I could have then hold the ratched from the other side or from above.
